It started with my own souterrain

I’m Harm Woortmeijer from SouterrainRoosters.

The idea started with my own souterrain in Amsterdam. Leaves, litter, mosquitoes and other unwanted visitors simply found their way through the existing steel grating into the light well.

That meant regular cleaning and making sure the drain didn’t get blocked.
 

I looked for a good solution, but couldn’t find one. So I developed my own: fine-mesh stainless steel grates, custom-made for Amsterdam souterrains.

What started as a solution for my own home is now used in souterrains throughout Amsterdam, including Oud-West, De Pijp, Oud-Zuid and the Rivierenbuurt.

As every situation is different, we custom-make each grate to fit.
 

Is the existing steel grating unsuitable? We can also make a new custom steel grating with the fine-mesh stainless steel grate integrated into it.
 

Our main focus is Amsterdam, where we can take care of the complete process:

measuring, production, cleaning the light well and installation.
 

Outside Amsterdam? In many cases, we can also manufacture the grates based on measurements you provide and arrange delivery to your location. Transport costs are charged separately.
